New Pinnacle Peak Development

North Scottsdale’s Pinnacle Peak has a new gated community coming its way.

Pinnacle Peak Place will put 80 new homes on the 124-acre lot at the northeastern corner of Pima and Happy Valley roads.

The new development sailed through the city’s approval process with no opposition. Even neighbor Henry Becker, who has found it impossible to develop his 95 acres to the south, had no comment.

More Valley Jobs In Scottsdale

Study finds 36,000 commute to city…

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA - New U.S. Census Bureau data confirms what city leaders have long known: Scottsdale is one of the Valley’s biggest job centers, encouraging people from around the region to commute here each day for work.

Scottsdale imports more workers per capita than any Valley city save for Tempe, the Census Bureau study said. An estimated 36,000 people commute to Scottsdale for work. Tempe lures 59,768.

Third-ranked Phoenix draws the most actual workers: 96,120. But those commuters represent a smaller portion of Phoenix’s resident population than do Scottsdale and Tempe’s commuters.

Scottsdale officials said the high number of commuters was a happy effect of the city’s focus on luring businesses and creating jobs.

Scottsdale’s Last Ranch??

AzCentral’s Scottsdale Republic reports that Windgate Ranch, the 633-home housing development northeast of 96th Street and Bell Road, is likely the city of Scottsdale’s last major housing development.

Toll Brothers is grading it’s nearly 400-acre site and plans to begin sales by March of 2006 for a gated community with home prices starting in the $900,000 range.

Fountain Hills Changing Its Address

Arizona’s newest two-comma town: Fountain Hills!

The East Valley Tribune reports that Fountain Hills is becoming a new destination for luxury housing and estates. Last week, four homes went on the market for $3.2 million to $4.6 million each, and next month another house is expected to be listed at $7 million.  The town’s top attraction is ample amounts of mountainside "city lights view" property available for purchase.

Rio Verde Foothills “Rural” Plan

Residents of Rio Verde, the unincorporated county island in North Scottsdale (one of Central Arizona’s last true equestrian communities) are looking to maintain the area’s rural character and hope they can continue to fend off mass, cookie cuuter type development as urban sprawl moves its way over the next 15 years.  The Rio Verde Community started as a horse owners paradise and residents do not want to see this change now change, or in the future.
