Scottsdale wants to link Old Town, Civic Center
A proposal to create a “gateway” from Old Town Scottsdale to the Civic Center Mall to encourage more foot traffic between the two could be a boon to area businesses and the arts scene, city officials say.
“This whole entry area (on the east side of Brown Avenue at Main Street) is going to be redesigned. For people in the Old Town area, we want to create a gateway that draws their attention to the mall area,” said Doug Makinen, city project manager. “There’s nothing right now that draws them over here.”
Scottsdale unveils draft of new downtown plan
Scottsdale unveiled a vision for downtown that includes a more urban setting with taller buildings, better access for walkers and transit riders, and a continued dedication to arts and medical uses.
Also emphasized in the plan is the desire to preserve the historic Old Town and Marshall Way districts without allowing additional height.

“Beach house” project will line Arizona Canal
Alan Lamb and Gary Lamb, of Lamb Architects, have designed the 55,000-square-foot SouthBridge Canal Walk residences along the Arizona Canal.

Retail center is site for planned project, an article from The Arizona Republic, reports that the proposed 26-acre Scottsdale Centrovida project in South Scottsdale will bring new retail, restaurants, housing and a parklike environment. Plans to build Centrovida, or "center of life," adjacent to another large office and retail project, SkySong, brings hope by the developer that the two projects will feed off each other, creating a "live, work and play" hub.
