Long-term answers sought for Airpark business

Long-term answers sought for Airpark business, an article from The Arizona Republic, reports that the Scottsdale Airport has two business plans and they come as Scottsdale starts updating its community area plan for the Scottsdale Airpark, the area surrounding the airport that is home to nearly 2,800 businesses and estimated 52,500 employees.  Businesses and residents are being encouraged to share their vision of the growing area.

Among the issues to resolve is redevelopment of older, low-slung manufacturing space into possibly taller, mixed-use buildings off airport property but near its runway.  Scottsdale Aviation Director Scott Gray said, "Scottsdale Airport has been the home for the majority of corporate activity in the Valley for years."  He added, "With the development of the freeway system, all of the other airports are fairly easily accessible now and are interested in exploring the same thing that Scottsdale supports, which is the corporate and hospitality environment.  That could have an impact on who we are."
